CARE & TRAINING

Here we offer some training tips and suggestions. This information should in no way be taken as complete. We believe very strongly that a well trained puppy makes for a lifetime home for your Alaskan Malamute, and with few problems. I don't know the statistics, but I'll be willing to bet that the majority of Malamutes ending up in rescues are the ones that never received proper training from their owners.

While being an extremely affectionate dog, Alaskan Malamutes are very strong headed. Unless you take the proper time to be firm and fair when they are a puppy, your Malamute experience can turn into a nightmare for you, and more importantly ...... the dog.

There are no bad Alaskan Malamutes, only bad owners. Take the time to train! Join a puppy class in your area; it's fun and rewarding for both you and your Mal. Invest a little time in the beginning to train, and you'll have a best friend for life.  It's an investment in time that you'll never regret.
