SOCIALIZING FOR BEST BEHAVIOR

Every BlackBear Malamute puppy is sold with the strict understanding that your puppy will be a part of the family. Malamutes are pack dogs and require the companionship that a pack provides. They are hearty, gregarious dogs that thrive on the attention and love of others. Upon acquiring a Malamute, your family becomes their pack and your Mal gets the love and attention they desire from you. Unlike other breeds that are best kept as a single pet,  Mals are a very social dog. They want to be where the fun and action is so making your Mal part of the family is an absolute must.

Imagine that as a child, you never were introduced to other people or places or things until you were five years old. You would be terrified of everything you saw. In fact, you become so frightened that you would strike out. Every dog should be well socialized to the outside world and Mals are no different. After your Malamute is fully immunized to protect against Parvo, distemper, etc., take him in the car as much as possible. Include him in your trips to the pet store where he can meet other people outside of his family, and, particularly, other dogs.  If you don't have children, make sure that he is exposed to children in some way; perhaps some playtime in the park. Whatever you do, please remember that a well socialized dog makes for a much happier dog and an even better companion. Your Malamute should be treated as a valued family member, and to that end it is imperative that you take the time to to properly raise your Mal. Socialization is critical.
